Open Enrollment and No Child
Left Behind Transfer Process
For 2009-2010 School Year
Applications - April 7 - June 30
NCLB/Sibling Transfers - April 7 - 24

Parents or guardians may apply for transfers for their children to attend a
school other than their assigned home school during the annual Open
Enrollment period. Transfers are subject to space availability.

Applications will be available at:
The Board of Education and online at www.mcsk12.net

Open Enrollment Hours:

6:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. on April 7 (Board of Education - Auditorium)
7:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. April 8 - June 30, weekdays

(Board of Education - Room 104)

Parents can pick up info packets and bar coded applications between April 7
and April 24 to help avoid long lines during the application process. The bar
code on the application serves as the “ticket” to hold a parentʼs place in line.
A bar coded application will also allow you to apply online. Parents are
strongly encouraged to take advantage of this new option if possible.
Parent sponsored line-ups or lists will not be honored, and MCS Security will
not permit anyone to line up for the April 7 ticket process before 5:30 a.m.

What is an NCLB Choice Transfer?
Students assigned to "High Priority" schools are able to transfer to a
school in Good Standing under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
These students receive first priority for transfers April 7 - April 24. After
April 24, all transfers are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Will there be another NCLB Choice Transfer period?
A separate transfer process will take place in the fall of 2009 for students
whose school remains or has been newly identified as "High Priority."
