Mentors are good listeners who care.

Mentoring PhotoYou can influence the life of a Memphis City Schools’ student and be influenced by becoming a mentor in CONNECT.

Mentoring brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement, aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee.

“CONNECT” is a solid connection with the future.

Effective mentoring:

  • Helps young people reach their full potential
  • Improves interpersonal relationships between students and their parents, teachers and other adults and their peers
  • Encourages students to stay motivated and focused on academic performance
  • Reduces juvenile delinquency and involvement in gang activity
  • Offers young people opportunities to consider new career paths and much needed economic skills and knowledge
  • Encourages community service and planning for the future

Mentoring is an opportunity to reach out and inspire.

A mentor is a faithful and trusted friend who provides support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement and constructive examples.

Memphis City Schools is seeking concerned and committed community members interested in connecting to the future with MCS students, as a CONNECT mentor.
