General Summary

Individuals seeking a clerical position must demonstrate proficiency in software packages and equipment utilized by the department or prospective location. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of people.

Entry Level

This position performs general office duties. This position must have clerical aptitude and ability. Working knowledge of PC and office equipment, required. This position reports to principal or department/division administrator.

  • High school diploma.
  • 1 year of secretarial/clerical experience.

School Secretary

This position assists the school administrator in managing the School Activity Accounting (SAA) by maintaining up-to-date records of the school's budget, accounts, and all other financial activities. This position is also responsible for the accurate and timely preparation/maintenance of payroll information. This position may supervise other clerical positons at the school level. This position serves as secretary to the Principal.

  • 2 years of college, required. Associate Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field, preferred.
  • 1-3 years of secretarial/clerical experience.

Administrative Level

This position performs administrative duties along with general clerical responsibilities. This position must be proficient in the use of automated word processing, spreadsheet, database, and software packages utilized in the division/department. This position handles sensitive data and must maintain a high level of confidentiality. This position reports to division/department coordinator or director.

    • High school diploma. Associate Degree, preferred.
    • 1-3 years of secretarial/clerical experience.

Executive Level

This position provides administrative assistance to executive level staff. This position must be knowledgeable of district organizational structure, Board structure, and Board policies and procedures. This position must be able to create memos from discussion to generate draft reports. This position handles and maintains sensitive data, which may require tact, diplomacy, discrepancy, and judgment as well as a high degree of confidentiality. This position reports to division/department director or executive staff.

  • Associate Degree, required. Bachelors Degree, preferred.
  • 2-5 yeas of secretarial/clerical experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work in high impact office setting.
