Superintendent's
Corner
Last Thursday, the
Memphis City Schools Board of Commissioners got its first look at two
long- awaited studies: the Five-Year Facilities Master Plan and the
Five-Year Transportation Study, along with a comprehensive overview
of the academic programs and guiding principles which they support.
Taken together,
the plans call for sweeping changes in Memphis City Schools. From the
creation of uniform grade configurations to system-wide attendance
boundary changes, the elimination of satellite attendance areas to
support neighborhood schools, school closings and the construction
of five new schools, almost every student in the District will be touched
by the proposal.

for “Mentoring Night with the Memphis Grizzlies” when the
Grizzlies take on All-Star Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The events are just a few of those planned this month to thank the
people who committed to MCS students through the CONNECT program.
