Congratulations to the following Memphis City Schools educators selected as recipients of the 25th annual Rotary Awards for Teacher Excellence (RATE):

Bellevue Success Starts with a Winning Attitude

Principal Kevin Malone believes success starts with a winning mindset, and it’s evident in just about every sector of the student body at Bellevue Junior High School. Mr. Malone held an assembly at the school on Tuesday, April 4 to inspire success for the spring sports season, to commend the success of its students for being named MCS Reads School of the Month and above all, to stress the importance of success on the TCAP and Gateway tests.

April’s Blue Ribbon Spotlight School:
Discipline problems drop at Westhaven Elementary

If you stroll the halls on Wednesdays at Westhaven Elementary, it may seem more like a walk on Wall Street. Fourth and fifth grade boys are wearing ties, and the girls are donned in dresses. It’s all part of a program meant to build self-esteem and reduce altercations.

Shelby Oaks Celebrates TCAP Spirit Week in Grand Style

TCAP Spirit Week (April 3-7) was jam-packed with excitement at Shelby Oaks Elementary School. The school had fun activities planned for each day of the week. The celebration started Monday with “Dream Job Day,” teaching students that trying hard and succeeding on tests like the TCAP will help lead them to their dream jobs one day.
