MISSION
The mission of the Division of Careers, Technology, and Adult Education is to prepare students to successfully compete in a global job market requiring higher education and higher levels of technical skills. It is the charge of the Division staff to provide support services to assist teachers in preparing students with the knowledge and skills for higher learning at the post-secondary level, advanced technical training, and a wide range of opportunities in high-skill, high-wage careers. OVERVIEW Twenty-five percent (25%) of Careers and Technology students in
the state reside in Memphis, making this the largest program in
Tennessee. In the 2005-2006 school year, 23,055 students were
enrolled in Careers and Technology courses in the Memphis City
Schools, 20% of the total number of students in the school system.
Primary Functions
The positive, enduring lessons of the Careers and Technology
Education programs make them a lifelong investment in learning and
doing.
