Another mission is to build an understanding of the wide range of social and economic responsibilities that accompany the right to engage in marketing in a free enterprise system. Marketing Education provides the information, direction, and training for those students with an interest in marketing. Its objective is to help students obtain the skills, attitudes and knowledge that will enable them to be contributing members of society.

The broad objectives for students enrolled in Marketing Education are:

  • To develop an understanding and appreciation of the social and economic value of the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services.
  • To make realistic career choices in marketing.
  • To attain their occupational objectives in marketing.
  • To increase their occupational efficiency through classroom instruction, individual projects, on-the-job training, merchandising laboratory experiences, internships and co-curricular student organization activities.
  • To develop the desire to further their education in the field of marketing.
  • To develop initiative and leadership.
  • To recognize the ethical standards required of persons engaged in marketing activities.

Classes

Marketing classes enable students to understand and apply marketing, management, and entrepreneurial principals; to make rational economic decisions; and to exhibit social responsibility in a global economy. Successful performance depends on the application of mathematics and English principles, the use of scientific problem solving, and the application of computer technologies to marketing situations and problems. Students can transfer their skills and knowledge between and among industries.
