CTAE PROGRAM AREAS

The Agricultural Education program is built on the core areas of classroom/laboratory instruction and supervised agricultural experience programs. · Classroom/Laboratory Instruction –instruction in and about agriculture that utilizes a “learning by doing” philosophy. · Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs – all students are expected to have an agriculturally related work-based learning experience while enrolled in agricultural education courses. |
| Business Technology Education |
The Business Technology Education program is dedicated to the task of providing all students with information for business and about business. · Students train in business and office occupations through the various business courses offered. · State-of-the-art computer hardware and software provide hands-on learning experiences for students. · Participation in Career and Technology Student Organizations (CTSOs) expose students to professional experiences to prepare them for entry into the workforce as well as post secondary institutions. |
| Family and Consumer Sciences |
Family and Consumer Sciences is a comprehensive foundation course designed to assist students in developing the core knowledge and skills needed to manage their lives. · Critical skills in decision-making, problem solving, critical thinking, technology, work and family management, and workplace readiness are reinforced through authentic experiences. · Occupational Family and Consumer Sciences Education prepares individuals for employment in occupations utilizing knowledge and skills in Family and Consumer Sciences subject matter. |

Health Science Education provides students in grades K-12 with knowledge of health careers. The program in Tennessee focuses on grades 9-12 and emphasizes a major in health science education. It is designed to help students who complete their major and continue their study in post-secondary education. All Health Science teachers have completed three years of successful employment in a related health occupation and hold current licensure or certification in an allied health occupation, or current licensure as a registered nurse. |
| Marketing Education |
Marketing Education is a program of study designed to prepare individuals for initial and continuing employment and education in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. Another mission is to build an understanding of the wide range of social and economic responsibilities that accompany the right to engage in marketing in a free enterprise system. Marketing Education provides the information, direction, and training for those students with an interest in marketing. Its objective is to help students obtain the skills, attitudes and knowledge that will enable them to be contributing members of society. |
| Technology Engineering Education |
Technology Engineering Education is an action based program that requires students to use resources to design, produce, use, and assess the impact of products and services that extend human potential to improve and control the natural and human-made environment. Technological Engineering studies involve: · Designing, developing, and utilizing technological systems · Open-ended problem-based design activities · Cognitive, manipulative, and effective learning strategies · Working individually as well as in a team to discover solutions to problems. |
| Trade and Industrial Education |
Trade and Industrial Education helps prepare
students for an increasingly demanding high skilled workplace in the United
States. To meet the needs of the technologically changing workplace, the state
curriculum has recently been aligned with industry standards, and
teachers are often offered professional development opportunities to
upgrade their skills to the levels required for instruction according to
industry standards. · Combines theory with application to develop technical skills, occupational judgments, and workplace ethics. The courses are closely aligned with those of postsecondary institutions in Tennessee, allowing students to make easier transitions to those state schools. · Offers high quality educational experiences to promote teamwork, leadership, high work standards, and help develop a value for lifelong learning. |
