Autism

The Severe Behavior and Communication Disorder Program (SBCD) serves students who have been diagnosed as autistic or having autistic-like behavioral problems.  A wide variety of services are available including self-contained classes, and a residential program for students who are not making progress on their IEP goals in the school environment.  Placement options for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) include inclusion in the regular classroom and placement in non-categorical special education classes.  Related services are available based on the individual needs of each student.  The Behavioral and Educational Support Training (BEST) Team works with MCS personnel by assisting in designing and implementing specialized behavioral and educational programs for students who are having difficulty succeeding in special education and regular education environments.
