Cybill Shepherd was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She attended East High School where she began to develop her talents as a model and actress. While attending East High School, she won the Miss Teenage Memphis Pageant in 1966 and was runer-up in the Miss Teenage America pageant.

After high school, Ms. Shepherd pursued a career in modeling. She won national model of the year honors and appeared on the cover of numerous magazines including Life, Glamour, and Vogue. In 1971, she made her acting debut in the critically-acclaimed movie The Last Picture Show. Other films in which she has appeared include Taxi Driver, Chances Are, Marine Life, and Texasville. She starred in the popular Moonlighting and Cybill television series and has appeared in many other television productions.

Ms. Shepherd has been singing since she was a child and has released albums with musicians such as Phineas Newborn Jr., Peabo Bryson, and Stan Getz. Recently she published her autobiography titled Cybill Disobedience.

Ms. Shepherd has won four Golden Globe Awards, four People's Choice Awards, and received the "Woman/Man of the Year in Broadcasting" honor. She has served as the national spokesperson for the American Lung Association and Voters for Choice. She has three children.
