On October 8, 2005, Elliot Perry began a new chapter in a long and diverse NBA career when he joined the Memphis Grizzlies’ ownership group.


He joined the Grizzlies’ front office after serving as a player representative with the NBA Players Association, an organization he was familiar with after a 10-year NBA career.


Perry played 547 games with seven teams, including a two-game stint with the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2001-02 season. He averaged 6.3 points and 3.1 assists per game throughout his career, and his best season came in 1994-95 with the Phoenix Suns, when he played all 82 games, including 51 starts, and averaged 9.7 points , 4.8 assists. 1.9 steals and 1.8 rebounds per game, all career highs. He was a runner-up for the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award following the season.


Along with Phoenix and the Grizzlies, Perry also suited up for the Los Angeles Clippers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New Jersey Nets and Orlando Magic. He also played three seasons in the Continental Basketball Association.


A Memphis native and graduate of Treadwell High School, Perry played four collegiate seasons with the Memphis Tigers, and led his team to second round appearances in the NCAA tournament during the 1987-88 and 1989-90 seasons. Perry was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round of the NBA draft as the 37th overall pick.
