STRATEGIES THAT WORK

No Child Left Behind

The No Child Left Behind Act puts special emphasis on doing what works best to help students achieve. Even before this legislation was passed, Memphis City Schools had been selecting methods and programs with a proven track record of increasing student achievement. A district-wide curriculum aligned to state standards, strengthened literacy programs, early and frequent academic intervention to bring struggling learners to higher levels, new tutoring initiatives and summer school for elementary school students are some of the programs that the district is using and that are already proving to be effective.
