Supplemental Educational Services

The No Child Left Behind Act authorizes the use of Title I funds to provide additional academic support in reading, language arts, and /or mathematics for students in certain Title I "High Priority"Schools.  All students who receive free or reduced lunch attending these identified schools maybe eligible for this service.

This additional academic support is called Supplemental Educational Services (SES).  Supplemental Educational Services Providers (tutors) offer this special after school tutorial program after the regular school day. In order to take advantage of this free, after-school tutoring for your child, please call 416-4250 for more information.

Click here to view the 2007-08 list of state-approved tutorial providers.

Every effort will be made to assign your child based on your first and second preference of provider.  If neither provider offers tutoring at your child’s school, you may choose to take your child to another school in the afternoon for tutoring.  Memphis City Schools will not provide transportation for Supplemental Educational Services.
