The 2008 Summer Programs Guide highlights a myriad of learning opportunities for students in elementary, middle and high school. Offerings range in focus from intervention and course recovery to help students stay on track for grade promotion and graduation to those that cover core courses, such as math, science and others that cater to students’ special interests, such as technology, art, aviation and criminology. Additionally, Summer Transition Camps are available to help middle school students make a smoother jump to high school.
Memphis City Schools will be offering School Age Child Care programs throughout the summer as well, although the dates for these programs have not yet been determined. Once finalized, those dates will be added to Summer Programs Guide on the district’s Web site.
Registration requirements, orientation information and dates of attendance vary according to program. The first sessions of 2008 Summer Programs will begin in early June. Some summer programs are free, while others are tuition-based. Some also include transportation, meals and materials for students, while others offer only some or none of these additional services.
