There are 10 schools that exist as optional only, and all students who attend these schools participate in the optional program. The 10 schools are:

There are school-within-a-school optional programs at nine elementary schools. The focus at each school is
Enriched Academics. The schools are:

• Peabody Elementary
• Brownsville Road Elementary
• Sherwood Elementary
• Downtown Elementary
• Snowden School
• Grahamwood Elementary
• Willow Oaks Elementary
• Keystone Elementary
Seven middle schools offer a variety of optional programs from which students can choose. They are:
• Bellevue Middle, Snowden School, White Station Middle and Wooddale Middle Focus: College Preparatory
• Colonial Middle Focus: Arts and Academics
• Craigmont Middle Focus: Enriched Academics for International Studies
• Lester School Focus: Literacy/Technology/Pre-Engineering
At the senior high level, students can choose among 10 programs. They are:
• Central High and White Station High Focus: College Preparatory
• Craigmont High Focus: College Preparatory for International Studies
• East High Focus: College Preparatory for Health Sciences/Engineering/Allied Health
• Kingsbury High Focus: Technology/Careers/Military Science
• Overton High Focus: Creative and Performing Arts
• Whitehaven High Focus: College Preparatory/Business and Finance
• Wooddale High Focus: College Preparatory/Aviation/Travel and Tourism
Who Can Attend Optional Schools
Qualified students can transfer into the optional programs when the following conditions are met:
1. The applicants meet the entrance requirements of the school.
2. Space is available in the school.
If applicants for optional programs live in the assigned district of the optional school for which they wish to
apply, they should contact the school directly about requirements and procedures for qualifying and registering for
the optional school program.
