Career Ladder Payment

Due to the State’s enforcement of the regulations governing the Career Ladder program, the Memphis City Schools is changing the payment schedule in which career ladder supplements are paid.  According to the TCA 49-5-5001 and the Rules of the State Board of Education Chapter 0520-2-2, an educator must complete at least 100 days in a career ladder position to be eligible to receive the career ladder supplement.  Career ladder supplements will be paid to educators based on actual days in a paid status.

The first semi-annual payment is to be paid January 25, 2008 for bi-weekly employees and January 31, 2008 for the semi-monthly employees.  Only educators who meet or exceed the 100-day requirement prior to the first payment will receive $500 (CL I), $1,000 (CL II), or $1,500 (CL III).

The second career ladder payment for both bi-weekly and semi-monthly employees will be paid June 27, 2008.  Educators that do not meet the 100-day requirement at the time of the second payment will be paid for all days worked in a paid status (maximum of 200 days).  Educators that were paid a first payment and worked their second 100 days will be paid $500 (CL I), $1,000 (CL II), or $1,500 (CL III).  Educators who worked less than 200 days will be paid for all days worked at the daily rate of $5.00 (CL I), $10.00 (CL II), or $15.00 (CL III).
