Registration Date and Times

The first day of school is Monday, August 11, 2008.
Welcome Back to School!

Registration is Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at your child's assigned school.

To register a MCS student, please go to your child’s assigned school during the above hours. Your child must attend the school to which he or she is assigned by address, unless an approved transfer has been granted by the Office of Student Enrollment or the Division of Optional Schools. Optional transfers may still be available for students who qualify. June 30, 2008 was the deadline for applying for all other transfers. If you have questions about your child’s school assignment, please call the MCS Office of Student Enrollment at 416-5830.

What will I need?

To register returning students with Memphis City Schools you will need:

• At least two documents that verify proof of residency or proof of school transfer
• A final report card for the 2007-2008 school year and 2008 summer school report card, if applicable
• Complete registration forms
  

To register Kindergarten students and students who are new to Memphis City Schools you will need:

• At least two documents that verify proof of residence or proof of school transfer
• A current physical examination
• Immunization Record
• Social Security Card (requested)
• Certified Birth Certificate
• Complete registration forms
• Name, address, and phone number of last school attended
  

What if I am unable to register my child on Tuesday, August 5, 2008?

Please do your best to register during the times provided on August 5. If you cannot, please contact your child’s school for information regarding additional registration times. You may download and complete most registration forms, and this may help make the registration process faster and more convenient. Students should be registered prior to the first day of school, Monday, August 11, 2008 and should plan to be in class, ready to begin on the first day.
