ArtsFest is designed to celebrate student achievement in the arts, engage the community in supporting students and teachers, and highlight the power of arts education as a key agent in school reform. ArtsFest 2013 features over 600 exemplary student works of visual art and over 50 live performances in Theatre, Dance, Orff, Band, Choir, and Orchestra.
As a community member, arts enthusiast, and/or professional artist, please consider being an ArtsFest Arts Advocate for Memphis City Schools. The responsibilities would include donating a block of time on Saturday, April 6, 2013, to view artworks and/or performances and to make supportive comments and critiques on Advocate cards. Your input would be valuable and encouraging to teachers and students!

We are pleased to announce that the nationally acclaimed Fisk Jubilee singers will be headlining the ArtsFest closing ceremony on April 6, 2013. The a cappella ensemble consists of students at Fisk University who tour the world singing traditional spirituals and other notable compositions. In 2008, the Fisk Jubilee Singers were awarded the National Medal of Arts by former President George W. Bush at the White House. Other awards of the ensemble include the Governor’s Award, the Recording Academy Honors and the Heritage Award of the Nashville Music Awards. The below video is their 2009 performance at Carnegie Hall as part of the Neighborhood Concert series.
