Crump Elementary Does it Again! It was close, but Crump Elementary did it again by eating “mor chiken” than any other school in the district on November 1, the MCS Blue Ribbon Night at Chick-Fil-A. Principal Alonzo Brown received another big check – this time for $1,320. He says his school has a committee formed to decide how to spend the funds they have received from Chick-Fil-A. Holmes Road, in second place, and Richland, which came in third this month, both came very close to edging Crump out. The
next Blue Ribbon Night at Chick-Fil-A will be December 6.
Other Blue Ribbon Activities in Our Schools The student body and faculty at Lincoln Elementary School celebrated Red Ribbon Week with its annual community drug-free parade and dance on Friday, October 28. Joining with them was another school in its community, Hamilton High School, whose band and majorettes enhanced the parade setting. Some of our week-long activities included student banners, students essays on the importance of being drug-free, songs from our music department and lots of cheers from our cheerleaders' squad. On
October 28, Havenview Middle had its second fight-free dance for students
who reached the goal of 35 fight-free days of
school. During homeroom,
students were praised for this accomplishment and encouraged to reach
60 fight-free days before the Thanksgiving Break. Havenview Middle
also, implemented its School-wide Participation Reward System under
the Blue
Ribbon Plan. This system was set up and utilized to reward students
who maintain good behavior at Havenview. All students started with
points
earned from the first six weeks conduct grades; however, each student
must maintain the highest number of points in order to participate
in various activities and receive rewards including free concessions,
free
dances, uniform free days, pizza and coke parties, free passes to games,
cookouts, and field trips. The Online Store is Online Now! Memphis City Schools’ online store is finally up and running. You can purchase everything from t-shirts to lapel pins to tote bags.
