We certainly believe good teaching and lots of reading contributed
to better reading performance on TCAP and Gateway assessments. Again
this year, I want to urge all of us to move forward with our “25
books in a year” Memphis City Schools Reads Campaign.

Elementary to Celebrate Its Academic Achievement, U.S. Department
of Education Recognition
Delano
Elementary School will hold a celebration of its selection as a 2005
No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School at 9 a.m. on December 9 at
the school.
The
school’s administrative staff, faculty and parents will host
a program and reception for invited guests.

Board of Professional Teaching Standards Announces 20 MCS Teachers
Have Attained National Board Certification in 2005
The
National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) announced
November 29 that 20 teachers in the Memphis City Schools district have
achieved National Board Certification, out of the 37 teachers across
the state of Tennessee who earned that status this year.
