Visit From Saint Nicholas” Also Featured Visits from MCS
Superintendent, Administrative Staff
Each
December 6, Saint Nicholas Day, Volunteer Memphis reaches out to some
of the neediest kindergarten – second grade students in Memphis
City Schools, supplying backpacks filled with toys, books and school
supplies and reading to them the legend, “A Visit from Saint
Nicholas.”

Fifty
and Counting
Shannon Elementary
2nd graders Lakeyia Reed and Kentavious Jones are the first members of
the MCS Reads, "50 Club," meaning they've turned in 50 book
reports. Both students are in Mrs. Rhonda Hemingway's class. There are
currently four MCS students who are members of the "25 Club."

Mentoring Program is making a Difference

High School’s motto is “Mitchell High School is the Best
High School in America.” According to Principal John Ware, the
only way to achieve that goal is to have the best students in
America. That’s why the school has developed its Plan for Success,
and the main component of the plan is communication.

Hayes Donates Music Money To Five Schools

call him the Soul Santa. Music legend Isaac Hayes is getting into giving
spirit this holiday season by handing out thousands of dollars in music
grants at several Memphis City Schools.
