PRSA Names Superintendent Carol Johnson 2005’s Top Communicator

Dr. Carol Johnson’s voice has echoed through the community with nothing but optimism and aspiration for the children of Memphis City Schools since she arrived in the city as the district’s superintendent in 2003. This year, Dr. Johnson’s dedication to remain a visible symbol of positivism for the youth of Memphis has earned her the honor of being named Communicator of the Year by the Memphis Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

Junior League of Memphis Making a Difference at Macon Elementary

Faculty and staff at Macon Elementary say there’s no better way to describe their two-year partnership with the Junior League of Memphis than, “simply priceless.” In the last year alone, the Junior League has been providing lunch for the faculty and giving each of the teachers a gift certificate to buy new materials for their classrooms at Knowledge Tree. Volunteers have also attended and assisted with PTO meetings, tutored children in math and reading and provided gift certificates for needy students to buy clothes at their thrift store.
