As a long-time reverend and community leader, it's no secret Dr. Kenneth Whalum is known for his commitment to inspiring and motivating the youth of this city to strive for the best. Now, less than two months into his term as Memphis Board of Education Commissioner, Whalum has set his sights on inspiring students in Memphis City Schools.  Viewing the youth of this district as the face of hope in our community, he has promised to deliver his positive message, “It's Going Down, so Make It Rain and Walk It Out,” to students during his term. Students at Bellevue Junior High had the opportunity to hear him on Tuesday, February 27 when Commissioner Whalum served as the keynote speaker for Bellevue's Black History Month celebration.

The Board of Education held a Retreat on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 at the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis.

The Board’s Budget Committee will hold a meeting Wednesday, March 7 and Thursday, March 8 at 5:30 p.m. each of those evenings. There will be a Forum for Citizen Comments from 7 - 7:30 p.m. each night. The meetings and Forums will be held in the Board of Education Auditorium.
