Message: I would like to voice my opinion on the orchestra/strings programs in the Memphis City Schools. I have a son who is extremely shy and withdrawn. He showed an interest in music and thanks the the strings program in the elementary school he was attending he was able to get involved and loves playing the violin. He is now in middle school at Colonial Middle and is succeeding extremely well thanks the the confidence building techniques he's learning. I sincerely ask that you reconsider the programs that you have cut recently and beg that you will not cut out anymore of these programs. Not all children are athletic and not all children succeed strictly by academics and these music programs help tremendously. Thanks

In-School Suspension Program

Thanks to MCS for allowing the In-School Suspension Program at school. The benefits outweighs the negative perceptions of some people. Students are being held accountable for their poor decisions. We have found the right solution but we must let others know of our accomplishments.
