Newsweek reports that on average, teachers lost 5‐9 hours of instructional time per week dealing with low level
discipline issues. This fast paced session will provide an overview of the power of relationships in connection with
reduced discipline issues, increased engagement and stronger performance. Participants will be provided with 13
proven “Line in the Sand” strategies that will help any teacher truly be the CEO of their classroom, mean what they
say and be in control without losing control each and every day.

Respectful, Responsible, Ready: The Effect of School Culture on Academic Achievement and Student Motivation
The work of Susan Kovalik ("Highly Effective Teaching"), Quantum Learning and others have been combined to
create a multi‐component model which has resulted in steady academic gains, and improved motivation and
discipline at Campus School. Design, development and implementation strategies for each component will be
discussed.

Many large urban high schools have a myriad of discipline‐related problems including; fighting, class cutting,
tardiness, profanity, misbehavior, insubordination, cafeteria decorum and cell phone policy violations. These
issues gave Kirby High a very bad image. Join Kirby High School Principal Reginald Williams to learn his turnaround
strategies that led to increased enrollment, a waiting list for transfers and attainment of Adequate Yearly Progress
(NCLB) in his first full year as leader.

The session will provide principals, assistant principals, PDSCC's (school based coaches), and administrative staff
guidance regarding fiscal accountability under Federal Law, EDGAR, and OMB Circulars. Additionally, information
will be given regarding the fine balance between maintaining program and fiscal compliance. Participants will be
provided the opportunity to ask questions and gain clarification from the Federal Programs Grants & Compliance
staff.

published 10 Best Practices in Bullying Prevention. This session will examine these and their application to school
leadership with particular emphasis on awareness, effective interventions and appropriate follow up to comply
with state law and MCS Policy.
