Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year!!  It is with great pride and a sense of responsibility that I serve as principal.  It has been seventeen years since I started my career with Memphis City Schools.

As your principal, I want to encourage you to become an active part of your child’s education.  Our theme is “Everything Counts”!!

Our goal is for each student to reach his or her maximum potential.  I appreciate the hospitality extended to me by you - the faculty, staff, students, and parents through your kind remarks and show of support.  As a fourth year Fresh Start Striving School, I am proud to say that through hard work and dedication from our staff and students, we are now in Good Standing. We sincerely appreciate your support and cooperation.

Airways has set goals for this school year directed toward improvement in the following areas:

• Academic Achievement
• Attendance
• Staff Development
• Community Involvement

We particularly need the support of our parents if we are to realize improvement in the areas of academic achievement and attendance.  This office extends to all parents and patrons of Airways an invitation to join with us in making Airways Middle School, home of the Mighty Jets, what it can and should be.

From the Assistant Principal’s Desk...

Dear Students, Parents/Guardians, and Community Members:

Students:  Welcome to a new school year and a new future for the students at Airways Middle School.  My name is Mrs. LeCharle Harris and I come to you excited, full of knowledge, and ready to continue to work to make Airways the great school it has been in the past. 

Parents:  Welcome to a new school year for your child and a new avenue towards helping your child become a successful student and community member.  I look forward to working with each of you during the next nine months as well as watching the children grow in the mind and spirit of education. 

SUCCESS at Airways Middle School = Students + Parents + Teachers + Administrators + the Community. 

If the above equation is to be successful, no one person or entity can be missing.  I challenge each of you, students, parents and guardians, to go an extra step beyond what you have done in the past to help make your education or your child’s education successful this year. 

I have many goals and beliefs for all of the students at Airways Middle School.  I also feel that working together we can succeed in helping our students become successful in any and all educational endeavors.  I look forward to the coming school year and getting to know each of you and assisting you.  

Remember at Airways our students will succeed by knowing “everything counts – Academics, Attitude, Achievement… and Your individual goals in life”.
