Ms. Dowell & Ms. Street with Student Council (2003-2004)
The Bellevue Junior High School Student Government is an organization that serves as a means through which the ideas and opinions of students may be presented for faculty and administration consideration. The council serves as a governing body for the development, promotion, and administration of student affairs. It also gives organized student reports to educational, recreational, social, and charitable activities that are initiated and sponsored by the school. This is designed to promote a closer relationship among students, faculty, administration, and the community.
The purpose of this organization shall be:
To facilitate good relations among the administration, faculty, and the student body; to improve and maintain school spirit; to provide orderly direction of student activities; to provide a forum for student expression; to promote student participation in school activities and student government to the utmost; and to generally promote the welfare of the school and student body.
Student council members provide feedback from the student body they represent on student issues. This feedback will be discussed at scheduled council meetings. The officers and the student council sponsor will consult with proper authority, the principal, about the issues. The council will represent the student body at many special school functions.
The council also performs fund-raising activities for various events throughout the school year. Council members, with the help of parents and teachers, host school parties. Being a member of the school Student Council is an honor. It is also a position of responsibility. It is very likely the members of this council will be future leaders in the community, government, or business. It is hoped that this experience to serve will help students build the foundation they will need later in life.
