LIGHTSPAN LEARNING TECHNOLOGY LAB

The Lightspan Learning Lab provides an opportunity for students to reinforce skills in Language Arts and Math, using a media they are very familiar with and enjoy, the Play Station. The games provide hands-on learning experiences.

BALANCED LITERACY

Balanced Literacy refers to the philosophy that literacy acquisition requires an approach that ensures a balance of appropriate reading and writing activities , using researched-based reading and writing strategies. The components of Balanced Literacy are: Read Aloud, Reading, Literacy Centers, Word Study, Shared Writing, Interactive Writing, and Independent Writing.

ACCELERATED READER

Bethel Grove students are avid users of the Accelerated Reader program. Each classroom is equipped with two student computers for AR testing. The Library Media Center has ten computers equipped with the AR programs. The Library Media Center has afternoon flexible time for all grades. This time allows for easy book returns and checking out for students. Bethel Grove students enjoy reading and taking AR tests on the computer. They anxiously await the announcement of winners as Independent, Super, Advanced, Star, Classic, and Honors Readers.
