PTO

President: Margaret Henderson

Parent and teacher organizations should be made mandatory in every school. Studies have shown involvement is a very important part of the learning process. Bethel Grove School is a school that is committed to help build hopes and dreams. The PTO is a part of that dream team. Parents can come in and tutor children, work as mentors, or just come by to read a book to a classroom. Our PTO is learning new ways to become an effective part of the community. We encourage each and every parent to join your PTO and become actively involved with your child's school.

ADOPTERS

Bethel Grove participates in the Adopt-A-School Partners in Education program. Bethel Grove's adopters are Greater Middle Baptist Church, St. Matthews Baptist Church, National BUsiness College of Technology, New Hope Ministries and Praise, Southeast Mental Health Center, City of Memphis, St. Luke Baptist Church, National Association for Blacks in Criminal Justice, Mahogany's Beauty Salon and Monument of Love Baptist Church. The Airways-Lamar Business Association, Memphis Police CO-ACT Unit of Bethel-Labelle, Kappa Leadership League (KKL), Modern Distinctive Ladies (MDL) Noblemen Society, Inc. WATCHDOGS

Dads of Great Students is an innovative program focusing on the prevention of violence in our school. The positive influence of our fathers provides presence of security and a positive and active role-model for children at the school. Fathers, stepfathers, and grandfathers are asked to spend at least one day at school volunteering as security monitors, reading mentors, listening ears, or for whatever needs to be done to plant seeds of success in the lives of our children.

PARENT RESOURCE ROOM

Our Parent Resource Room provides materials and training for parents to work with their children at home to improve achievement. Literacy training and training in the use of technology are provided to foster parental involvement.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

Parents are strongly encouraged to volunteer for tutoring, Field Trips, RIF, Career Day, Santa's Secret Workshop, Field Day, help in the library and classrooms, or just to show a pleasant face. Our goal is to bridge the gap between parent, school, and community and to improve relationships between home and school.

SATURDAY TUTORING

Saturday Tutoring is provided by Memphis City Schools Modern Distinctive Ladies, KKL, and LLE's. Students in grades 1-5 are encouraged to attend each Saturday morning from 8:00-10:00 a.m. They are provided a light snack.
