Announcements Brookmeade is again the recipient of the Laura Bush Foundation grant for libraries. This year we were fortunate to receive the full award amount of $5,000. This money will go a very long way to helping us update and expand our small collection. If you or your organization would like to donate new or used books or funds to purchase books and materials, please contact Mr. Carr at 901.416.7961. |

About Mr. Carr Although I am in my second year of librarianship, I am not new to teaching. I came to Brookmeade in 2006 after seven years of teaching Spanish, Physics, History, and Yearbook at Ridgeway High School. I am so excited to call Brookmeade home and I will continue to make every effort to create the best library media center for our students. About Brookmeade Library Brookmeade students are currently offered a semi-flexible library schedule. Each week, second through sixth grade students have the opportunity to come to the library for at least one hour and may check out two books. Our kindergarten and first grade students have two thirty-minute sessions of story time with me each week as well. Each day, students have up to one hour of flexible schedule to use the library outside of class time. Mondays and Tuesdays, students have even more flexible time in the afternoons. I encourage students to use this time in the library to check out new books, or to use the library computers for research, remedial practice, or AR quizzes. Summer Reading Program What did you read over the summer? Share your favorite titles with me as I will be preparing our book order soon. You might just see your suggestions on the shelves for other students to read! Inspiration
Software Inspiration software is a tremendous tool for helping students create thinking maps and outlines. These can be used as pre-writing exercises or as themed projects. This is important as thinking maps and outlines are tested on the T-CAP assessments each year. I have had training in the use of this valuable tool and will be teaching students and teachers how to use this software throughout the school year. Other Useful Links
