Credit Recovery
Credit Recovery
Credit Recovery is an after school program designed to keep students on track towards graduation by providing opportunities for them to earn credit for courses previously failed during the regular school day. All courses are offered online and are taught by certified teachers endorsed in core subject areas.
Eligibilty
All MCS students in grades 7-12 who have failed a core course with a minimum grade of a 50 qualify for this program.

Registration
Parents and students should decide if they are interested and willing to complete the course.
Each session is a nine week session.
For ½ credit courses or Credit Recovery courses needing one semester only, choose one session.
For 1-credit courses, choose two sessions (ex. Session 1 and 2, or 2 and 3).
If you are a senior needing the course to graduate on time, please review the course ending date. All seniors who choose a Session IV class will not be eligible to graduate until July.

Guidelines
Course must be a failed course with a minimum grade of a 50. (Grades 7-11 can take a maximum of two courses per school year). (12th grade students who are over two credits behind schedule for graduation may qualify to take more)
- Courses selected must be completed by the session end date.
- Online courses are new courses that an overage student, a senior or graduating junior, or a student who failed a course with a failing grade less than 50 can take to earn credits needed for graduation.
- This is an extension of my regular school day and regular attendance is necessary.
- Ethical standards must be adhered to at all times.
- All grades will post to student’s transcript and will count in the GPA.
- Students will adhere to all policies set forth by Memphis City Schools concerning Code of Conduct, District Uniform, and School Policy.
- In order to receive a passing grade for this program, students must successfully complete and pass the program.
- The student will receive a progress report every three weeks and a report card grade for completed courses.
- Students will be scheduled into the approved course in Chancery. The student can drop the course prior to the end of the first ten days of the registered session without the course being recorded on the student’s cumulative record.
- Online courses final grade will be calculated according to a grading rubric consisting of quizzes, applications, reports, projects, semester exam and or an end of course test. Some courses will require state tests.
- Transportation is parent’s responsibility.
- In order for this form to be valid, signatures are required.
- All students must have an email address, and working phone number. A computer at home with high speed Internet will be an asset. Students may work at school, home, library, or any location with a computer and high speed Internet.
- All course work must be completed after-school, facilitated by an assigned online teacher.

Processing Grades
Grades will be entered by the teacher and will appear on the student’s transcript.

eLearning is an after school program designed to assist overage students in getting on track and graduating with their cohort. This is done by disseminating secondary academic content via online. The curriculum is aligned and correlated to Tennessee and MCS standards. Students can earn two credits per school year. All courses are taught by certified teachers endorsed in core subject areas.
Eligibility
MCS student in grade 8-12 who is one or more years overage and is currently passing qualifies for this program.
MCS senior who needs an additional credit to graduate in 4 years and one summer qualifies for this program.
MCS student who has previously failed a course with a grade less than 50 (Providing the course is offered) qualifies for this program
