Congratulations!

We would like to recognize the following students for their achievements.

Carver Cobras are College Bound!

Andrew Fields has been named First Tennessee Academic All-Star of the week.  He won in the general scholarship category and will be featured in The Commercial Appeal.

 

Randy Lewis received the Christian Brothers University Rozier Scholarship.

The award was $32, 000!!

Congratulations to Shree' Slayton, Ms. Lashondra Smith's student who is an essay contest winner in First Tennessee's Financial Literacy Essay Contest. We are extremely pleased that Ms. Smith exposed this contest to her students and that Shree' had the opportunity to express her voice on this subject. Shree' won the following:

Cobra Recognitions

  • 2007-2008 Memphis Education Assocaition High School of the Year award..
  • In partnership with Southwest TN Community College, nine students participated in their Youth Services Program and enrolled in post-secondary institutions.
  • In 2007, one student received a scholarship from Memphis Rotary Club totaling $1500.
  • G.W. Carver has implemented a 9th Grade academy , to assist incoming eight grade students with their transition into high school
  • G.W. Carver Students were selected to participate in the EPIC Learning Program, where our 9th and 10th grade students will receive EPIC Notebooks to enhance their learning through technology.
  • G.W. Carver’s Dance I and II classes were chosen for a Residency program from the New Ballet Ensemble School as part of a Residency program.
  • G.W. Carver and Bloomfield Baptist Church successfully held their 2nd Annual Back to School Health Fair.
  • G.W. Carver successfully implemented its “Cobra Summer Academy” for the second year.
  • G.W. Carver and the Carver Alumni Association awarded eight students the RB Thompson Scholarship and the Class of 1966 Scholarship totaling $4000.
  • G.. W. Carver has a comprehensive athletic program that includes nine sports. Our football team is the MIAA 2A City Champions.
  • G.W. Carver High School 2007 graduates accepted and were offered $416,248.00  in scholarships.
  • G.W. Carver Track team Cross Country Team won the regional meet.
  • G.W. Carver Custodial staff for receiving the Runner Up award for our Custodial Operations zone.
