  • DECA Club traveled to Orlando, FL to attend the Southern Region Leadership Conference at the Caribe Royal Hotel.  Leialoa Jhnson-Hagmoc won a medal for outstanding leadership on her DECA test, role plays, and participation in the conference.  Trinity Holden and Terrance Reed also participated in the conference.

Athletic
  • Meagan Fickle was named to the Best of the Preps All-Metro Volleyball Team.
  • Football players, Keaton Baker and Tim Michalchuk were named to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl High School Football All Star team.  Colter Adkins was named to the West TN High School All Star Team which will take on the East TN High School All Star Team.
  • All District 14AAA Football Team

Visual & Performing Arts
  • Annie Do won 1st place in the 12th grade division, the Germantown Art League Award, and a Memphis College of Art Scholarship for $3,500 for her entry in the Mid-South Fair Student Art Contest.
  • Annie Do's entry into the 2009 Memphis Shelby County Airport Art contest, which won 2nd place, was recently chosen as one of the works that will be reproduced and sold on T-shirts, mugs, posters, etc. at the airport.
  • The Cordova High School WolfPack Playhouse production of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt was named Outstanding Production and awarded first place at the Tennessee Theatre Association (TTA) Secondary School Play Festival on October 23 in Cookeville, TN.  Cast members Diana Hopper, Gintare Milaseviciute, and Thomas Ogg were all named to the festival's All-Star Cast.  The production was also awarded theTechnical Excellence Award for its costume and set design.  TTA represents professional, community, college, and high school theatres from across the state.
  • The WolfPack Play production of Doubt placed 1st in the Tennessee Speech and Drama League regional one-act play festival.  Gintare Milaseviciute was named the festival's best actress, Thomas Ogg was named the festival's best actor, and Diana Hopper was named to the festival's all-star cast.   The production will now compete in the TN High School Speech and Drama League state festival in April.
  • The WolfPack Playhouse production of Doubt competed at the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) one-act play festival in Lexington, KY.  SETC is the largest regional theatre conference in the nation, attracting over 5,000 theatre professionals, educators, and students from across the country. 18 schools from a 10 state area competed.  Gintare Milaseviciute was named the Best Actress for the festival and Dian Hopper was named to the festival's all-star cast.
  • At the TTA Regional One-Act Festival, the Cordova High School WolfPack Playhouse production of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt won 1st Place.  Diana Hopper was named  to the All-Star Cast and Gintare Milaseviciute was named Best Actress.
  • Bryan Thomas, Amber Wilson, Morgan Taylor, Audrey-Anna Donaville, Kamari Long, Brandi Thompson, April Crider,Moriah Jackson, and Kerrick Owens were selected for the All-Southwest TN Senior High Honor Choir.
  • Kayla Bentley was selected for the All-Southwest TN Junior High Honor Choir.
  • Students from 11 different states auditioned for the chance to perform with American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Honor Choirs.  Audrey-Anna Donaville was selected for the ACDA Regional Women's Honor Choir and Bryan Thomas was selected for the ACDA Regional Men's Honor Choir.

  • Math teacher Martha Sandoval received a letter from David Wottle, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at Rhodes College, recognizing her influence on former student Chris Perkins.  After completing his first semester at Rhodes with an impressive academic performance, Chris was asked which high school teacher was most influential in his college preparation.  Chris named Ms. Sandoval and said she "faithfully encouraged that I believe in myself and never doubt my capabilities (especially, when attacking a difficult math problem).  This has motivated me to take on challenging paths at Rhodes on all levels, both in and out of the class."  Mr. Wottle went on to commend Ms. Sandoval on her commitment to the teaching profession stating "your hard work and talent has helped mold Chris into a fine young scholar whom we are very fortunate to have at Rhodes."
  • Track & Field coach, Jason Wood, was named Commercial Appeal 2009 Track & Field Coach of the Year.  Coach Wood led the Wolfpack to the 2009 TSSAA 3-A State Championship.
  • Julia Goodwin was chosen as the 9-12 Teacher of the Year by the Memphis City Schools District and by the Grand Division from which three will be chosen for interviews.  The Tennessee Teacher of the Year will be chosen from the final three.  Ms. Goodwin taught English at Cordova High School from 1997-2009.  She taught A.P. Language and Composition, A.P. Literature and Composition, and Creative Writing and sponsored the award-winning school literary magazine, Salmagundi.
  • Technology teacher, Linda Williams, received the 2008-09 Service Learning Grant Award in the amount of $6000.
  • Coach John Dowtin was named linebacker and special teams coach of the West Team for the 2008 Toyota / Tennessee East vs West High School All Star Game. Coach Dowtin was also selected to coach in the 2009 Toyota / Tennessee East vs West High School All Star Game.
  • Ninth grade English teacher, Marcy Harrifeld, was awarded a $1350 Orpheum Matinee Series Grant from the Education and Community Programs at the Orpheum Theatre.  The grant allowed 125 of her students to attend Mayhem Poets on April 7, 2009.     
  • Coach John Dowtin was selected to represent the state of Tennessee at the NFL Youth Football Summit - a three day educational and interactive conference for the leaders in youth and high school football.  A state panel of football leaders reviewed essay submissions and selected Coach Dowtin as the state delegate based on his strong commitment to football, his dedication to the game of football, and his mentorship of young people.  The summit took place in Canton, OH July 22-25, 2009.  While there, Coach Dowtin and the other state delegates met with NFL executives, coaches, sports scientists from Gatorade, sports psychologists, and retired members of the NFL to discuss various topics that effect the sport of football today.  They were also provided with the latest information on nutrition, hydration, safety, conditioning, flexibility, and strength training.

  • Jacques Crawford, class of 2006, was named National Junior College Player of the Year (football).
  • Julian Henson, class of 2005, was drafted out of high school by the Seattle Mariners and is currently in the Houston Astros organization.
  • John Blaine Moore, class of 2004, was named one of 32 Rhodes Scholars from the United States. A senior at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, he was a football star and valedictorian at Cordova High School.  Worldwide, about 85 Rhodes Scholars are chosen annually.  Moore will enter Oxford in October 2008.  More...
  • Phillip Merling, class of 2004, was drafted by the Miami Dolphins.  He was the 32nd pick in the 2008 NFL draft. 
  • Chris Taylor, class of 2002, graduated from Indiana University with honors and is now a running back for the Houston Texans in the NFL.
  • Michael Coe, class of 2002, graduated from the University of Arkansas with honors and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2006 NFL draft.
  • Jeff Beacham, class of 2002, was drafted by the New York Yankees and is currently playing independent baseball in the Chicago organization.
  • Christopher Gholson, class of 2001, is better known as Drumma Boy in the hip-hop music world.  Gholson has made a name for himself and become one of hip-hop's hottest producers.  More...
