Denver's Mission and Vision

Our Mission

The mission of Denver Elementary School is to prepare our students to read, write, reason and implement mathematical skills at or above grade level. This will in turn provide them with the foundation needed in order to successfully meet the academic and social challenges of middle and high schools.

Our Vision

The vision of Denver Elementary is that each child at Denver Elementary will have daily opportunities to be mentally, socially, and emotionally enriched in ways that are developmentally appropriate for that child.  Every child is expected to learn at high levels, and will be assessed through a variety of means using high standards as benchmarks.  Students will experience the freedom to creatively express themselves in a risk-free environment.  Home, school, and the community will combine efforts to provide our children with the skills needed to be productive citizens.  Denver’s faculty and students will leave school each day with a sense that they have successfully participated in the preparation of an educated citizenry for the twenty-first century.

Statement of Beliefs

The primary focus of all decisions affecting our school should be student learning and achievement.

Collaboration creates a wholesome climate that leads to shared decision making and school wide

       implementation.

Every child is capable of learning and should receive the best education possible to become a vital

citizen in our school, community, and world.

Teachers, along with parents, administrators, and the community share the responsibility for advancing

the school's mission to enable students to become confident and self directed life long learners.

The curriculum should be implemented through innovative teaching methods that are flexible enough to

       consider individual needs and interests.

The school climate and environment must be positive and safe in order for learning to occur.

Assessment informs instruction.

The school is responsible for adhering to the policies set forth by Memphis City Schools.
