Peggy M. Herring, Principal

Hello,

As the principal at Double Tree Elementary I look forward to a year of successful achievements. I am very excited for the school year 2007-2008, it promises to be a great year! We have been given the charge to concentrate on assuming responsibility for our successes, to build positive relationships, to focus on results and to give respect to everyone.

At Double Tree we start our daily routine with a morning meeting where students and teachers gather in a circle, greet one another, share and respond to each other's news, think together, and look forward to the school's daily activities.   This activity teaches our students social and emotional skills, builds climate of trust, along with improving children's reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.  Double Tree also has an excellent academic program focusing on the Montessori Philosophy in grades K-3 and emphasis in technology in grades 4-6.  Students are given the opportunity to participate in many activities that enhance their talents and interests.

I believe all children can be successful if they are given the right opportunities.  I believe that parents, guardians, and the community of neighbors and friends can be a powerful support system for our children.  I encourage parents, grandparents, and guardians to take an active role at Double Tree to help to mold and shape our students to be leaders of tomorrow.  Volunteer!  Double Tree needs YOU!

Sincerely,

Peggy M. Herring
