Downtown Elementary has over 50 volunteer tutors who are trained on-site and have access to a well-equipped tutoring center. Volunteers are often affiliated with Downtown Adopt-A-School partners, though parents and other community stakeholders volunteer their time. Tutoring volunteers provide extra instruction for children one at a time, giving them the special personal attention they need to master basic reading or math skills.

You can give children the extra help and support they need to improve their math and reading skills. Volunteer at Downtown Elementary Optional School and make a difference in a child's education.

What's expected of you:

• One hour per week to meet with two students, 30 minutes each, one-on-one
• Enthusiasm for reading or math
• No experience necessary
• Approval with background check

We provide:

• Books, materials, and training for working with K-6th grade students
• Day and time to fit your schedule, 9am-3pm, Tuesday through Thursday
• Convenient downtown location
• A fulfilling experience
