Sharing in the "FUN" at Egypt

Egypt Elementary Talent Show 2007

The students of Egypt Elementary shared their talents with the faculty and

students. Some of the talents were singing, dancing, and drum playing.

The All-Stars, the school dance team, also performed. To end the talent

show, our principal, Ms. White, and vice principal, Mrs. Richey,

sang "Ebony and Ivory".

First and Second Grade Crafts Fair

First and Second grade students took part in a crafts fair. Each classroom made crafts and provided services such as a gym with exercising, painting nails, decorating and eating cookies, and massages. The purpose was to teach the students about goods and services and all about money.

The teachers at Egypt spent the week of Inservice learning many

  • Learning Lab-The Learning Lab is a unique learning environement that fosters academic success at every level. We encourage every student to display a sense of responsibility and respect in their class and their community.
  • Egypty Elementary created the Learning Lab in order to help students meet their goals and objectives addressed in their Individual Education Plans. The Learning Lab includes the use of computer programs, small group instruction, and a large variety of hands on learning materials.
  • The students have a sense of pride and a feeling of ownership because of our unique learning environment.  They want to share their experiences with others and are asked on special days to bring a friend.  The Learning Lab also offers Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy.  We strive to meet the needs of our students by serving them in their Least Restrictive Environment.

  • Winners of the Memphis in May Best Classroom Project Competition

Egypt Elementary's first grade students in Mrs. Tracy Payne and Mrs. Jenny Gray won the Memphis in May Best Classroom Project Competition.  The
students collaborated to develop a glance of Spanish life.  The students
researched the Internet, read books and wrote book reports about Spain.  A
small group of students created a 3D map of Spain, identify four of its
major cities and labeled the cardinal directions.  In pairs, students
constructed the habitats of Spain which included some of its animals.
Students painted the Spain's flag.  One student colored eight pieces
of the Spanish's shield, resembled them and glued them like a puzzle.
Students made Spanish's ships in bottles as a symbol of the early
    Spanish explorers.
Spain is known for its beautiful castles.  The class pretended King
Juan Carlos wanted them to design a castle for him and his family.  THe
castle was made of cardboard and sprayed with sand paint.
Students glued colorful mosaic tiles in patterns across the castle.
The class imagined they were American Tourist visiting Spain.  As
they traveled around this exciting country, students kept vacation
spending journals.  The students drew items they wanted to buy and
recorded the amount of money for each item.  The girls painted
flamenco dancers as they were dancing at a Spanish festival.  The
boys constructed a replication of a Spanish bullfight in an area.
This classroom is a team teaching class with 40 students in one
classroom.  The students worked in cooperative groups to complete the
project.  The class selected the best pieces to be displayed for
public viewing.  For their great effort, they were awarded $1000.00
    dollars!  Go First Graders!
