Friday,
October 12, 2007, students were honored for their first six
weeks accomplishments. The Language Arts Department sponsored
the assembly, which was titled "Literacy and the 21st Century:
Where Will You Be?" Member of the Language Arts Department
are Ms. Powell, Mrs. Gales, Mrs. Coats and Mrs. Varnell-Smith.
The program included the posting of colors by the Melrose High
School Color Guards, a dramatic presentation of Dr. Seuss' "Oh,
the Places You'll Go", as well as musical selections by
the Fairview Middle School Choir, led by Mr. Ross.
Mr. Craig Freeman, a police officer and Associate Pastor of
First Baptist Church.
Students were then presented awards for Citizenship, Perfect
Attendance, Second Honor Roll, Distinguished Honor Roll and
Principal's Honor Roll.
