GEORGIA AVENUE SCHOOL

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT plan

2006-2007

A parent is a child’s first teacher and parental involvement is essential in obtaining a high quality education for their children.   This Family Engagement Plan was developed jointly with our parents, staff and community members to help reach the goal of preparing our parents to be knowledgeable of the skills and information needed to help their children to be successful learners.

Georgia Avenue Elementary commits to the following:

·        Invite parents and community members to attend our annual fall meeting to explain the school’s Title I participation, Family Engagement Plan, the Parent / Student / Teacher Compact and the school’s NCLB program requirements.

·        Offering a flexible number of parent meetings with regular opportunities for parents to formulate suggestions, share experiences and participate in decision-making.

·        Involving parents in an organized, on-going and timely way in the planning, review and improvement of all school programs for Parent Involvement and the school level Family Engagement Plan.

·        Providing parents timely information, using simple and direct language, about school performance profiles, individual student assessment results and standards students are expected to meet.

·        Offering clear explanations using simple and direct language of academic assessment results, proficiency levels and the school curriculum.

·        Providing timely response to parent suggestions.
