OUR WONDERFUL ADOPTORS

Locke Elementary has been adopted by Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Memphis and St. Luke's United Methodist Church. We are proud of our adoptors who provide the school with volunteer tutors, chaperones, Halloween and Easter treats, and Christmas presents for all students. They also donate school supplies such as backpacks, books for classroom libraries, and funds for special projects and field trips.

Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Memphis became a partner with Locke Elementary on May 12, 1981. Ms. Jan Snell serves as the coordinator.

Some of the ways in which Blue Cross-Blue Shield help Locke Elementary include:

  • Provide treats to students at Halloween
  • Provide 20-30 Thanksgiving baskets to needy families
  • Serve as judges for essays, poster contests, pumpkin decorating and costume contest
  • Participation in Field Day activities in May
  • Contribute half of the cost of National Teachers' Day luncheon
  • Donate books to Locke Library and classrooms
  • Christmas presents for all students

St. Luke's United Methodist Church joined the partnership on October 18, 1988.
