Vision
Statement

The vision of Georgia Avenue Elementary
School is to prepare all students for college by empowering them
with the knowledge and skills to perform academically at all levels
which will allow them to live successful and productive lives.
Our administrators, teachers, support
staff, parents, and community members provide experiences, activities,
and appropriate instruction for each student. Every child is encouraged
to read with comprehension, write clearly, compute accurately, think,
reason, solve problems, and work cooperatively.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to implement a diversified
learning program that addresses the individual needs of all students.
All students will leave Georgia Avenue Elementary school with the
skills necessary to succeed in their future learning.

Georgia Avenue Elementary is part
of the Title I school-wide project.

Georgia Avenue has 743 early childhood
through fifth grade and exceptional children. Ninty-Nine percent
qualify for free or reduced lunch.

All teachers are "Highly Qualified"
and are fully licensed by the State of Tennessee.

Teachers have an average of 15
years professional experience.

Seventy-seven percent of teachers
have advanced degrees.

The staff is 80% black and 20%
white. The student body is 99% black and 1% other.

The average class size is 20 students
per teacher for early childhood, 20 per teacher for grades K-3,
21 per teacher for grades 4-5, and 11 per teacher for exceptional
classes.
Areas / Communities Served
Georgia Avenue is a neighborhood school
that serves Foote Homes and Cleaborne Homes communities. The attendance
area is city wide due to open enrollment. Many of our students' parents
and grandparents also attended Georgia Avenue and continue to strongly
support its tradition of excellence.
