Getwell Elementary held its T-CAP Rally on Friday, April 2008. Congressman Steve Cohen was the keynote speaker. We were honored to have several other special guests attend. They were State Sentator Reginald Tate, State Senator Beverlay Marrero, Comissioner James Harvey, Dr. Freda Williams, Mr. Howard Richardson, Mr. Kermit Moore, Jr., Mr. Eddie Jones, Dr. Herbert Lester, and Ms. Yvonne Acey. Getwell appreciates their support and help in motivating our students to the best on the T-CAP test.

April Teachers of the Month at Getwell are Mrs. Rita Patterson and Ms. Nekia Patton. Mrs. Patterson and Ms. N. Patton are both second grade teachers. They have worked very hard to prepare their students for third grade. They both deserve a special pat on the back for all their hard work.

March Teachers of the Month at Getwell are Mrs. Lana Tager and Ms. Dianne Withers. These ladies put their students first and know that a good education is the key to success! Super job!

February Teachers of the Month at Getwell Elementary are: Mrs. June Hammons, Mrs. Angelique Jackson, and Ms. Eunice Cox. These teachers were chosen by their colleagues for their exceptional teaching and school spirit. Way to go ladies!

Getwell wishes to extend a huge thank you to our adopter, HoneyBaked Ham, for their generous gift of classroom books. HoneyBaked Ham donated the book Hambee's Healthy Guide to Food to each of our second grade classes. Getwell loves HoneyBaked Ham!

                                                      

Mr. Whaley received $1,000 from Target. He will use this money to take his class on a great end of the year field trip.
                                           


Congratulations Mariah S. Mariah W. and Marcia R. for winning Getwell's first semester essay contest. The topic of the essay contest was "What can an education do for me?" These girls went above and beyond their daily classwork and homework to write the essay.
                                   

On December 5, 2007, Getwell was selected to participate in the Effective Practice Incentive Community Pilot Program. Getwell qualified as a gold-gain school based on growth in T-CAP scores. Getwell faculty and staff were given the opportunity to vote to accept or decline this award. The faculty and staff voted YES!!! Way to go Getwell!!!

Getwell made AYP for 2006-2007, we are in good standing!
