MISSION

The mission of the Hickory Ridge Middle School is to prepare our students to be lifelong learners in the 21st century who are confident, competent, contributing members of a diverse and global society.

VISION

Our vision for Hickory Ridge Middle School is to promote educational experiences that meet the academic needs of our students, parents, teachers, and community. While learning in a safe and challenging atmosphere, our students will read with comprehension, write clearly, compute accurately, think, reason, use technological means to solve problems, and have an awareness of ethical standards that promote justice, peace, and social concern, as well as become leaders of tomorrow.

SCHOOL BELIEFS

• We believe all students’ learning needs should be the primary focus of all

                    decisions impacting the work of the school. 

  We believe all students can learn.

  We believe all students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning

                     process.

  We believe each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social,

                     emotional and intellectual needs.

  We believe all exceptional students (e.g., special education, ELL, talented and gifted,

                     etc.) require special services and resources.

  We believe a safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student

                     learning.

  We believe teachers, administrators, parents, and the community shares the

                     responsibility for advancing the school’s mission.

  We believe cultural diversity should be valued and appreciated and multicul-

                     tural integration will heighten student awareness of diverse cultures.

  We believe individualized instruction is necessary and should be guided by

                     on-going, authentic assessment as well as research-based best

                     practices.

  We believe safe and structured environment promotes student learning.

  We believe a variety of instructional practices incorporated in an integrated

                     curriculum will address the diverse learning styles of our students.

  We believe the stakeholders (school staff, parents, and the community) share the

                     responsibility for the support of the school’s mission and upholding

                     school policy.
