                                                        Summer Learning Packets

Dear Parents,

I hope your children have a safe and wonderful summer.  Part of a rich, healthy summer is having your child review basic learning from the previous year.  Below are some reminders of the important elements of John P. Freeman Optional School Summer Learning Packet.  Have an enjoyable summer!  We look forward to seeing each of you on Monday, August 9, 2004.

Sincerely,

Georgia Elaine Parks

Principal

Summer Reading List

This provides a summer reading list for each grade level.  Reading quality literature during the summer helps students improve their comprehension.  Students in grades four through eight will be tested on the two books they are required to read.

Supply List

This lets you know what supplies your child will need so you can take advantage of the back to school sales.

Summer Bridge Activities, by Rainbow Bridge Publishing.

The purpose of the Summer Bridge Activities is to increase reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science skills while away from school for the summer.  We recommend that each student  complete their grade level book. Summer Bridge activity books for preschool through eighth grade can be purchased at various bookstores throughout the city.

John P. Freeman Planner/Organizer

Each student is required to purchase the agenda for about $5.00.  The agenda contains lessons that will be taught by the teacher.

Math Facts

Students will be required to take a 100 math facts timed test weekly during the school year.  Please help them master the facts during the summer.
