Visual communications is a course that provides a foundation in aesthetic concepts as applied to visual art, design, printing, and photography industries through the use of computers. Course content provides the opportunity to acquire marketable skills by developing leadership, teamwork, and technical skills. Varying degrees of creativity are required, along with emphasis on two-dimensional design. Course content includes primarily computer skill development with some conventional drawing. Students will design original advertisements, typography, graphic illustrations and marketing materials. The course requirements include an exit portfolio showing progression of skills.

Digital Design & Imaging covers the advanced techniques of two-dimensional design and digital photographic imaging. Course content includes primarily computer skill development with some conventional drawing. Course content will cover electronic systems and software programs used in graphic design, page composition, image conversion, digital photography, and digital printing. Advanced knowledge and skills in digital design & imaging will be enhanced in a graphic communication production laboratory through real life experiences that simulate the graphic communications industry along with school-based and work-based learning opportunities. The course requirements include an exit portfolio showing a progression of work.
