Mission: The mission of the Memphis City Schools Adult Education Program is to prepare a diverse student population, eighteen years or older, for productive lives in the 21st Century. This includes empowering students with the necessary academic, technical and social skills to be successful citizens and workers.
Adult Basic Education classes are designed to help learners in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, language arts, and computer skills. The higher levels offer learners what they need to pass the GED test, or to receive their Adult Equivalency Diploma. ABE/GED programs and services include:

Classes are offered free to adults 17 years of age or older who are no longer enrolled in a regular day school program. Programs and services are available in various locations throughout Memphis and Shelby County.
