Parent Summer Tips

• Monitor the amount of television and video games that your child will watch and play.
• Involve children in a summer program with an academic focus in Reading and Math.
• Visit the Memphis/Shelby County library regularly and read, read, read.
• Allow your child to help you write grocery lists.
• Allow your child observe you when you write checks, use cash, and pay bills.
• Allow your child to organize your pantry items by alphabets, food categories, date of expiration, and size.
• Complete some of the Family LIteracy, Math & Science Night games and activities with your child.
• Encourage your child to keep a daily journal of their summer activities to increase writing skills.
