ARISE2Read - Treadwell Elementary Reading Camp

ARISE2Read hosted its first one-day reading camp at Treadwell Elementary on Saturday, March 5, 2016. The reading camp included books, games, food, and fun for the entire family. The purpose of the one-day reading camp was to provide an opportunity for parents and students to hear from ARISE2Read volunteers and Treadwell faulty about the importance of literacy in the home. The numbers were: 600 books distributed, over 400 Treadwell students and parents participated , 260 ARISE2Read volunteers, 53 Treadwell Faculty members participated, AND 1000 hotdogs grilled. What a fantastic day for everyone!

READ ACROSS AMERICA - TREADWELL STYLE

To celebrate Read Across America, Treadwell Elementary enjoyed several guest readers from the Memphis community. These guest readers included April Steele from Latino Memphis, Tonye McBride - IZone ILD, Dorothy Hopson - Treadwell Friend, Sara Jerkins - Bellevue Baptist Church, Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell, and State Representative Mark White. All of the students and faculty enjoyed meeting and reading with all of our guests. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Treadwell Elementary's 2015 Canned Food Drive provided 1227 meals for those in need. The winning class was class 2-05, and they loaded the truck.
