Attention seniors:
- The National Coalition of 100 Black Women announces its annual Patricia Walker Shaw scholarship program to all qualified young women who are or will be pursuing a higher level of education. All application materials are in Mrs. Heaston’s office and must be returned to NCBW by the deadline, April 30, 2008.
- The Kentucky Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon is offering a number of Balanced Man Scholarships totaling over $5000 to outstanding freshmen males attending Murray State University in the fall of 2008. Applications are available online at www.sigepkye.com Deadline is May 20, 2008.
- The Beta Beta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at the University of Mississippi is offering two scholarships at $250 each, designated by the Beta Theta Pi Foundation, for entering freshmen male students at the University of Mississippi, to be awarded in the fall of 2008. Applications are available in Mrs. Heaston’s office. Deadline is May 21, 2008.
- This year the Lester High Alumni Association will be offering scholarships to the 2008 graduating seniors who currently reside in the Binghampton area or who are sons or daughters of Lester Alumni. Applications are available in Mrs. Heaston’s office. Deadline is April 30, 2008.
- The Tennessee Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity will be offering 3-5 scholarships to qualified applicants. This scholarship is for men who will be in-coming freshman at the University of Memphis, and who exemplify scholarship, athleticism, leadership, and gentlemanliness. Applications are available in Mrs. Heaston’s office. Deadline is May 20, 2008.
- One $5000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who best responds (in 250 words or less) to the following online topic: ‘how will a $5000 scholarship for education make a difference in your life?’ The deadline for students to apply online is April 30, 2008. Students can apply now at www.scholarshipexperts.com/apply.htx.
- The Mitsui USA Scholarships in Tennessee Program will be offered to globally-minded high school seniors across the state. Four $2500 scholarships will be funded and awarded to successful applicants who plan to enroll in a four-year public college or university within the State of Tennessee’s Board of Regents or University of Tennessee systems. Eligibility guidelines, application materials and selection criteria are available for downloading and printing at www.jastn.com. Deadline is May 1, 2008.
Attention juniors:

Centre Fellows Program, Centre College, recognizes and rewards some of the nation’s brightest, most involved juniors. Centre Fellows receive a waiver of the application fee, and if admitted, they will receive a minimum scholarship of $8,000 per year for four years. To be nominated, you must be in the top 5% of your class, taking a strong college prep curriculum, have an SAT (PSAT-125) combined score of 1250 or better or an ACT (PLAN- 26) of 28 or better. - Fifth Third Lending is pleased to announce The Road Sweepstakes, a new scholarship offering for graduating seniors. Between now and May 3, 2008, Fifth Third will be awarding ten $530 scholarships. There is no essay requirement and no purchase is necessary. To enter, students need to submit a form online at www.53EducationLending.com/TheRoad
- Sigma Chi is accepting applications for its Leadership Development Scholarship. This award is only available to qualified men who will be enrolled as a freshman at The University of Memphis in the fall of 2008. Applications and criteria information are available in Mrs. Heaston’s office. Deadline is June 20, 2008.
- The Biology Department, Middle TN State University, will offer four scholarships to incoming freshman Biology Majors entering MTSU Fall 2008. To register, call the Biology Department at 615-898-2847.
- Pomona College will eliminate loans in financial aid packages and replace those amounts with scholarships, effective 2008-09. For more information on Pomona College, visit www.pomona.edu
- Milligan College has a 4-year full scholarship opportunity for minority students who are academically eligible and have service and leadership qualities. Go to www.milligan.edu for additional information.
- The Eula Brown Memorial Scholarship is a non-needs based scholarship that awards $1000 towards tuition expenses for a student planning to attend the University of Memphis in the 2008-2009 academic years. Additional information and forms are provided at www.firstsouth.com. Deadline is May 1, 2008.
- National College of Business & Technology is accepting applications for the Chairman’s and President’s Scholarship awards from graduating seniors who will attend a local campus of National College of Business & Technology. Interested applicants should visit www.national-college.edu and click “Financial Assistance” then “Scholarships” for more information or to download a copy of the application form.
- Tennessee Grocers and Convenience Store Association (TGCSA) provide scholarships to student employees and children of employees of TGCSA member companies. For additional information and/or scholarship application(s) go to www.tngrocer.org/applying
- One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who best responds (in 250 words or less) to onee following online topic: “How will a $5,000 scholarship for education make a difference in your life?” To be eligible to apply, students must be residents of the United States, be 13 years of age or older, and must have completed a scholarship search profile online at www.scholarshipexperts.com. Apply online no later than April 30, 2008.
- The men of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at UT Knoxville are offering two scholarships valued at $250 each to two male UT students that possess the following qualities: scholarship, leadership, and community service. Applications are in Mrs. Heaston’s office. Deadline for returning application is July 23, 2008.
