Become a MCS Volunteer

Volunteers support the goals and mission of Memphis City Schools in a wide variety of ways. Every year, volunteers make tremendous contributions in our schools and provide a wealth of energy, talent, skills and caring for a wide variety of educational programs and activities.

Because the safety of our students and school campuses remains a top priority, Board Policy requires screening in the form of a criminal background check for all volunteers. Please note that information provided for the volunteer screening is kept secure and confidential by the Office of Volunteer Services.

Just a few ways to volunteer at Memphis City Schools:

  • Become a tutor or mentor
  • Assist with special school events
  • Serve as a chaperone for school trips
  • Supervise school testing sessions (TCAP, Gateway, etc.)
  • Assist school administrators with office work
  • Speak to students about career goals
  • Assist in school labs or vocational classes

These are only a few suggestions… The Possibilities are ENDLESS!!

The Volunteer Application Process

  1. Complete the application, and send it to the address listed on the form.
  2. Applicants will be notified of acceptance or denial following a background check.
  3. If approved, the site coordinator at the applicant’s desired volunteer location will be notified.

For additional information about the volunteer application process, call (901) 416-7600, or send an email to volunteerservices@mcsk12.net
