Our Mission:
Empowering all students for success in learning, leadership, and life.

Our Vision:
To fully engage our staff, students, and stakeholders in becoming world class leaders in student achievement, character, citizenship, health, and technology through training, rigor, relevance, and relationships.

Welcome to the Shelby County Schools web site. Whether you are a parent, a student, an educator, or an interested member of the community, we hope you find the information on this site helpful. We trust that as you browse this site it will be apparent that the education of the children of Shelby County Schools is our most important mission.

We are proud of our school system, and with good reason. Shelby County Schools is nationally renowned for its academic excellence. Our system has historically been one of Tennessee's leaders in academic achievement. The secret to our success- dedicated teachers and staff, involved parents and communities, and a Board of Education with a passion for children and a commitment to providing the resources necessary for a world- class education.

Our challenge is to continue to provide a quality education in a changing world. Higher standards and more rigorous graduation requirements will present issues for our system in the near future. Keeping abreast of technology and providing our students with the tools necessary to compete in a global environment will always be our goal. But it is equally important that we teach our students character, tolerance, and interpersonal relations in order to get along with others in a shrinking world.

We are proud of our schools and the quality teaching and learning that takes place each day. I am continually amazed when I observe the talent that is exhibited by our students- we are fortunate that we have great kids, great parents, and great teachers and staff members who motivate our students daily. I am humbled to be the leader of such a great organization, and I look forward to working with each of you as we prepare our future.
